LIMERICK PA – The driver of a silver-colored Pontiac automobile was trapped inside the car for a short time Sunday (June 21, 2015) at about noon on North Lewis Road, near its intersection with West Ridge Pike, after being involved in a collision with a yellow-colored Chevrolet pick-up truck.
The truck appeared to have collided with the front driver’s-side door of the Pontiac (at top and above), and caused the car’s emergency air bags to deploy. Limerick firefighters (below), who arrived on the scene only minutes later, used a winch attached to the front of their truck in an attempt to remove the pick-up and provide greater access to the car.
Three Limerick police units and Limerick fire police also responded in the minutes following the side impact collision, which occurred at about the center of the northbound lane of North Lewis Road, across the street from the rear (south) exit of the Wawa convenience store at 451 W. Ridge Pike. A portion of North Lewis Road and the exit were closed for a time.
There was no immediate word on the condition of the drivers or passengers of either vehicle, or if any citations were issued.
