ROYERSFORD PA – Residents in Royersford and Spring City who leave their vehicles unlocked overnight may be unwittingly inviting a visit from roving thieves, the borough police department warned Monday (March 7, 2016).
The department said it, as well as police in Spring City, had received several calls during the past few days from residents reporting thefts from unlocked vehicles. “Most times, these thieves will not break into a car, they simply try door handles until they find the unlocked cars and then rummage through them,” Royersford police said.
That means checking door locks becomes more important, it added in a Facebook post. “Please remember to lock your cars, double check with your fob/remote if you have one (and hear your horn sound to confirm), and leave no valuables in your car or at least place them out of sight,” the department suggested.
Residents who see anything or anyone they consider suspicious also should call 9-1-1, the post noted.
