LIMERICK PA – A two-vehicle accident that occurred Thursday morning (June 30, 2016) near 9 a.m. on U.S. Route 422 West, just west of the Airport Road overpass at mile-marker 177.8, slowed and reduced passing traffic to the left lane only as emergency crews responded and Pennsylvania State Police arrived to investigate.

Troopers, Limerick Fire Company volunteers, an emergency medical services team from Trappe Ambulance, and a State Farm-sponsored tow truck were among the first responders.
A report on the accident could not be obtained. It is unknown how many people occupied the vehicles – one a silver-colored, late-model sport utility wagon; the other apparently a waste-hauling truck – or if any were injured and how severely. Investigators’ details on how the incident occurred were unavailable.
The car’s left-front door was open to passing traffic as firefighters worked to free wreckage away from view on the opposite side. The Jeep seemed to have suffered significant damage from its right front end down to about the right-side passenger door. Portions of the roadway were littered with debris, which volunteers cleared away with large brooms and shovels.
