PARKERFORD PA – Dr. Carl J. Bean, the owner of Bean Pottery at 1676 Old Schuylkill Rd., has been named by the Phoenix Village Art Center board of directors to fill its executive director vacancy, the board announced Friday (July 29, 2016). Bean currently serves as director and curricula developer for the “Movers and Shakers” summer camp program at the center, 207 Bridge St., Phoenixville.
Bean brings to the new job more than 15 years of educational and artistic experience, directors said. He has served in instructional and administrative positions at Indiana and Kutztown Universities, the Montgomery County Youth Center, the Wayne Art Center, and the Art Institute of Philadelphia.
His Bean Pottery is a working art studio that produces handcrafted pottery and ceramics for sale and display. He participates in several juried shows annually.
“The Art Center means so much to Phoenixville, and has always provided great programs for kids and adults. I look forward to being part of (its) continued growth and prosperity, and to being part of the greater Phoenixville arts community,” Bean said.
Board President Joan Beregi said the center is facing many challenges, and directors are “confident (Bean) can lead us to solutions. His background is impressive and his resume shows that he has been down many of these roads before. We are very much looking forward to his tenure and success.”
