TRAPPE PA – A motor vehicle accident that occurred Sunday (Jan. 15, 2017) at about 7:21 a.m. in the 100 block of West Third Avenue in Trappe, between True North Christian Church and VFW Post 7155, sheared a utility pole and cut power for several hours to some area residents and merchants.
Specifics of the accident, including the number of vehicles involved, any injuries, or if citations or arrests were made following the incident, were not immediately available from law enforcement officials. Trappe Fire Company volunteers were called to the scene with apparatus by Montgomery County emergency dispatchers, according to a county live incident status report.
Several merchants in the nearby Trappe Center shopping plaza, 220 Plaza Dr., reported the power loss rendered them unable to complete credit or debit card transactions for shoppers, even though they otherwise had power to operate. As a result, those retailers affected resorted to taking only cash or turned sales away, some store managers said.
PECO utility crews were called to the scene and spent several hours during the late morning and early afternoon to remove and replace the damaged pole, and restore electrical service.
