Area Woman’s Bags Help Philadelphia Homeless

They’re getting ready to distribute donated blessings

SCHWENKSVILLE PA – Homeless residents of Philadelphia are, for the third consecutive year, benefiting from the efforts of a Schwenksville woman and her friends. They’re attempting to make life on the street a little more comfortable for those in need.

Julie Buckner of Schwenksville and her companions are creating what are called Blessing Bags: duffel bags filled with toiletries and other essential living items that are distributed free to homeless individuals and families. They next plan to hand out bags on March 11 (2017; Saturday) in Center City and other areas nearby, and are collecting donated items to place in the bags through this Saturday (March 4).

Donations can be dropped off at any one of three locations:

  • All In Athletics, 33 S. 3rd Ave., Royersford;
  • West Main Consignment, 15 W. Main St., Lansdale; and
  • Rosa’s Fresh Pizza, 25 S. 11th St., Philadelphia.

For more information, contact Buckner by e-mail, here.
