ROYERSFORD PA – If you filed a federal income tax return early this year in the hope that you’d receive a refund early as well, you’ve probably been disappointed.
The folks at H&R Block – who are in the business of preparing tax returns with locations in Royersford, Collegeville, and Phoenixville – say the Internal Revenue Service was “required” to hold some refunds until Feb. 15. Taxpayers who claimed an earned income tax credit or an additional child tax credit particularly were affected. The good news is, they should have gotten their checks by now.
What? You didn’t? Fear not! The IRS, which Block says has a track record of issuing 90 percent of refunds within 21 days or less, offers a website at which you can check your expected refund date. Find it here.
To use it, you’ll need to have handy your Social Security number, filing status and exact refund amount shown on your return.
