SANATOGA PA – A 22-year-old Royersford man was arrested early Tuesday morning (March 28, 2017) by Lower Pottsgrove police and charged with drug and traffic violations after being stopped by a patrol officer on the 3000 block of East High Street.
Evan Joseph Dibello, of Fieldstone Lane, Royersford, faces a total of 10 counts involving speeding, failing to maintain his vehicle within its lane, displaying a registration plate with an insurance cancellation, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a Montgomery County magisterial district justice docket sheet. He was later transported to the county Correctional Facility in Eagleville PA to be processed and arraigned.
Ofc. Scott Burnick, in a police department press release, said while on patrol Tuesday at about 3:15 a.m. he initially pulled over a red Ford Explorer, driven by a man later identified as Dibello, for traffic infractions. Burnick alleged as he began talking with Dibello he “detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the Ford,” and also “observed a glass marijuana pipe in plain view” in a cup holder.
Burnick said he searched the truck and also discovered an amphetamine pill, which is a controlled substance; an additional glass smoking pipe, and an e-cigarette containing suspected marijuana residue.
He is scheduled for an April 19 preliminary hearing before Justice Edward C. Kropp Sr. at his courtroom in Pottstown, the docket sheet indicated.
