ROYERSFORD PA – Pottstown Medical Specialists Inc. (PMSI), a physician-owned medical practice with offices in Royersford, Collegeville, and several other locations across Montgomery and Berks counties, has been named the “Best Multi-Specialty Health Care Group” in Pennsylvania as part of the 2017 Private Healthcare Awards presented by Global Health And Pharma, a worldwide publication that focuses on health care and pharmaceuticals industries, the firm announced Tuesday (May 23, 2017).
The awards are “given solely on merit,” and are intended “to commend those most deserving for their ingenuity and hard work, distinguishing them from their competitors and proving them worthy of recognition,” the quarterly magazine’s publisher, AI Global Media Ltd., said.
Global Health and Pharma acknowledged what it called PMSI’s commitment to “delivering highest-quality, respectful, compassionate, and appropriate medical healthcare to its patients, providing for all their healthcare needs through the coordination of properly planned, managed and utilized medical services.”
PMSI’s win puts it in lofty company. Other 2017 Global Health and Pharma award reciopients were the Yale University of Medicine, Sanofi-Aventis SA, Kaiser Permanente, and Johns Hopkins University.
“Private healthcare is a crucial part” of the industry, Awards Coordinator Rachel Devonport said. “As such the importance of those working tirelessly to provide excellence in this sector can never be underestimated … I am honored to be able to showcase the talent, dedication and sheer hard work of every one” of the magazine’s winners. “I would like to congratulate them on their success and wish them the best of luck for the future,” she added.
PMSI, first known as Deviney, Guthrie & Popolow Ltd., dates back to August 1978 when three separate practices on internal medicine were merged. It was renamed in May 1980.
Over the years, according to the firm, it has added gastroenterology, cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology, rheumatology, oncology, pain medicine, neurology, and education to its specialty roster. Complementing its physicians and specialties are ancillary services such as a nuclear cardiology camera, digital echo machine, infusion therapy, therapeutic pain injections, and diagnostic sleep center.
PMSI has also said it developed a six-location primary care division. Growth has been accomplished through acquisitions and mergers of other practices, as well as opening new, strategically located practices that stretch from Collegeville to Bally and cover a large, two-county geographic area.
