Wanted Man Back In Upper Providence Custody

ROYERSFORD PA – A former fugitive who escaped from Upper Providence Township Police as they attempted to arrest him Monday (July 31, 2017) on drug-related charges, and who remained on the loose until Thursday (Aug. 3), is now successfully in custody, the department reported on its Facebook page.

Upper Providence had issued a wanted alert for James Dennis (inset at top), whose last known address was Wilmington DE, and who police claimed was known to have ties to the Spring City and Phoenixville areas. During the Monday incident, the department alleged he “attempted to remove an officer’s firearm” from a holster while police sought to arrest him for possession with intent to deliver.

Dennis was reported in custody as of Thursday, and additionally facing resisting arrest and related charges. The department’s post did not contain details about how to or where he fled, or the circumstances under which he was re-captured.

Police thanked the public for its tips and comments, however; the post was shared more than 200 times online.
