LIMERICK PA – Crossfit Kazam, a recreational fitness and exercise center currently located at 75 Industrial Hwy., Unit C, will move in coming weeks to a new location at 100 Lightcap Rd., Suite 130 – with more space and parking for its expanding business – under a promptly-made decision Tuesday (Sept. 19, 2017) by the Limerick Board of Supervisors.
Center owner and coach Kyle Hollinger, who represented himself during a board public hearing on his request for conditional use approval of the location, told supervisors the Lightcap Road space was move-in ready. “The property is good just as it is. All I have to do is unlock the door and move the equipment in,” he said. Zoning required board members to agree it can be used for fitness training.
Hollinger has no plans for structural changes. They would require a separate and different board approval, as well as potential payment of a transportation impact fee, Solicitor Joseph McGrory Jr. noted.
Hollinger might even benefit from a little more time off from the move. The larger, paved parking area means his more than 40 clients could avoid parking on wet grass during inclement weather, and stop bringing mud into the center he’d later need to clean. “That’s a pretty awful job,” he joked.
Classes at Crossfit Kazam generally are scheduled Monday through Friday at various times between 5:45 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, Hollinger reported. Most classes involve 15 or fewer clients (at top), so parking for about 50 cars is ample, he told McGrory. Happily, Hollinger added, the business is growing, “although it’s taken awhile.” He hopes it will benefit from exposure to traffic to and from the outlets on Lightcap Road.
McGrory acknowledged supervisors under law had more than a month to consider and then decide on Hollinger’s request, but instead suggested they could act immediately. They did, unanimously approving the conditional use, and offered him their wishes for “good luck!”
