LIMERICK PA – Raven’s Claw Golf Club, the highly rated 12-year-old course designed by architect Ed Shearon at 3159 W. Ridge Pike, will host its first LPGA Tour event – the Valley Forge Invitational – during late May 2018, tour organizers announced.
The invitational is a new opportunity on the Symetra Tour that will serve as one of about 22 qualifying tournaments nationwide for up-and-coming women’s golf professionals aspiring to compete in the LPGA. Practice rounds for players are scheduled for the course on May 21-22; a Pro-Am competition, May 23; and the three-day invitational, May 24-26.
Symetra officials noted Raven’s Claw “has been a consistent selection on the list of Pennsylvania’s Top 10 daily fee courses selected by Golfweek Magazine,” in a Philadelphia market that carries “a rich golf tradition.” Club owner Bob Davis said its staff has been busy preparing the course and facility for play that will showcase the greater Philadelphia region.

Raven’s Claw has hosted important amateur events, including a portion of the Montgomery County Amateur Championship, more than a decade. The invitational will be the first professional tour event played on its rolling hills.
Since 2008, the top 10 players on the official Symetra Tour money list are awarded LPGA Tour membership. For a third consecutive year, a minimum of $3 million in prize money is available to Symetra Tour players.
