2 Thanked For Royersford Heart Attack Response

HAPPY TO BE BACK – Richard Connell (center), an employee of Calhoun Jewelers, 500 Main St., Royersford, happily went back to work Friday (Jan. 12, 2018) after suffering a heart attack last November. There to greet him during part of the day, at the invitation of business owner Cathy Calhoun, were borough police department Ofc. David Taylor and Chief Tom Nerlinger. When cardiac arrest overtook Connell while has was on the job two months ago, fellow employee Jennifer Lukens called 9-1-1 and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), according to a department Facebook post. Shortly after the call, Taylor arrived with an automatic defibrillator and continued CPR. Emergency medical service crews arrived, stabilized Connell, and transported him to Phoenixville Hospital. Now he’s returned to Calhoun’s having made a full recovery, and the staff celebrated Lukens’ and Taylor’s heroic efforts with cake and gifts.
