KING OF PRUSSIA PA – If you plan to travel tonight (Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018) on U.S. Route 422 near Valley Forge and King of Prussia, plan for potential delays.
A right-lane closure, which could include periodic traffic stoppages of about 15 minutes in length, is scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday morning (Jan. 19) on westbound 422 between its Route 23 and Route 363 interchanges. A Pennsylvania Department of Transportation contract will use the time to install a sign structure accompanying roadway improvements there.
Additionally, PennDOT said, a left-lane closure also with periodic 15-minute traffic stoppages is scheduled on the ramp from westbound 422 to Route 363 during the same overnight period.
Drivers should allow additional time for travel in the construction zones. Backups and delays will occur, the agency warned. The contractor’s schedule depends upon the weather.
The scope of improvements includes changes to 422 between the Route 23 and Route 363 interchanges; upgrading Route 23 at 422; and improving ramps at the Route 363, Route 23, and First Avenue interchanges. Construction on this project began in February 2016; it’s scheduled to finish in May 2020.
