GLENSIDE PA – The 31st edition of the annual “Touch the Future” art show, which includes art works by students in the Spring-Ford Area and Perkiomen Valley school districts, opens Feb. 25 for a three-week run in the University Commons Art Gallery Area and Great Room Lobby of Arcadia University in Glenside. The show is free to attend and open to the public through March 15.
Entries from students in both districts will vie for more than $2,200 in prize money from show sponsors, the Mideastern Region of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, and the Council for the Advancement of Public Schools. “Best of Show” awards, and those for second and third place runners-up, and teachers’ and juror’s choices, are available. Honors also will be given in 14 media categories.
Winners of the juried show will be selected by Tamryn McDermott, director of admissions for the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. This year’s show pays tribute to teacher and astronaut Christa McAuliffe, who perished aboard the space shuttle Challenger.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
