VALLEY FORGE PA – Mother Nature threw a money wrench into Tuesday night (Feb. 13, 2018) plans, made by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, to shift westbound traffic on U.S. Route 422 near Valley Forge onto a new bridge built over the Schuylkill River.
Moving the traffic was scheduled to involve lane closures and vehicular stoppages during overnight hours into early this morning (Wednesday, Feb. 14) between the U.S. Route 202 and Oaks interchanges of 422. It would have been a start in clearing the way for agency contractors to begin construction of a companion eastbound bridge.
None of it happened, PennDOT spokesman Brad Rudolph explained, because predicted low temperatures would have affected the work.
The operation will be re-scheduled at a later date, Rudolph indicated, and PennDOT offered its apologies for any inconvenience.
